Urology Recovery at Seomyeon L:
Universal Rules + Procedure-Specific Timelines

Rules that apply to every Seomyeon L procedure — hydration, medication adherence, and activity restrictions — plus procedure-specific timelines and the advantages of recovering one floor below your surgeon in Busan Lotte Hotel.

TL;DR

The most common foreign patient recovery mistake is premature resumption of activity — particularly the long-haul flight home before fly-clearance. General rule: short-haul clearance 3–7 days post-procedure (procedure-specific); long-haul 7–14 days. Sexual activity restrictions range from no restriction (STD testing) to 6–8 weeks (penile implant). Red flags requiring same-day contact: fever >38°C after day 3, sudden pain increase after improvement, spreading wound redness. WhatsApp Dr. Kim's clinic at +82-51-808-8222.

Universal Rules

Post-Op Rules That Apply to Every Seomyeon L Procedure

R1

Hydration — 2.5–3L Per Day

Evidence-supported post-surgical recovery intervention. Reduces UTI risk, supports kidney function post-anaesthesia, accelerates wound healing. Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 7 days (impair wound healing, increase bleeding risk). Korean convenience stores stock Pocari Sweat and Gatorade — better hydration than plain water post-surgery due to electrolyte content.

R2

Complete Every Medication Course

Antibiotics must be completed even when you feel well before the course ends. Stopping early is the primary cause of antibiotic-resistant post-surgical infection. Korean pharmacies (including Lotte Hotel basement pharmacy) fill Seomyeon L prescriptions in English.

R3

Short Walks — Not Bed Rest

10–15 minute walks 2–3× daily from day 1–2 reduce DVT risk, speed healing, and improve bowel function. Do not interpret "rest" as immobility. Lotte Hotel corridor loops (14F) are an ideal low-effort walk environment in the first 24 hours when leaving the building is uncomfortable.

R4

No Soaking Until Week 3

Showers permitted from day 3 (pat dry only). No baths, pools, ocean, hot tubs, or sauna until wound is fully closed (~week 3–4). Lotte Hotel fitness centre pool and sauna: wait for Dr. Kim's clearance, typically week 3.

R5

Scrotal Support for Scrotal Procedures

For implant, reversal, varicocele, and TESE: wear scrotal support garment continuously for 14 days including during sleep. Inadequate support allows oedema accumulation that significantly worsens pain and healing time.
